Transition Community of Practice
The consideration of transition starts in middle school and extends through age 26, casting a large net over special education programs and services. Since transition extends into all eligibilities, including high and low incidence the Transition CoP draws participants from a variety of administrative backgrounds. Often the work of other groups, such as SLIP overlaps with transition.
It’s an exciting time for the Transition CoP with related federal legislation strengthening the connection between vocational rehabilitation and education. The work of the Transition CoP will involve collaboration with the statewide Transition grant system to support compliant and quality transition practices in Michigan.
