  • When does SDI come into play?

  • What Early Literacy standards are utilized?

  • Literacy coaching may not be spending time in self-contained classrooms

  • Trying to get resources to SE staff that are given to GE staff

  • Lack of knowing what GE is doing, what’s expected

  • Does special education have the same access to coaches that GE staff receive?

  • Coaching only provided to GE staff

  • IRIP development done in isolation in special education

  • Some districts have literacy coaches that are available

  • Special Education staff to attend professional development offered to GE staff

  • Essential Elements-Informational text can be addressed through Science and Social Studies

    • Wayne County has developed assessments

    • Special Education curriculum page, teacher tools

  • Involvement of the school psychologist in the child study process

  • Seeking involvement of the support from literacy coaches

  • Raise awareness with SE Directors

  • How can we collaborate with GE and SE Staff to ensure that everyone is getting the same information? What needs to be shared and with who? -being intentional
