Rates of Suspension &  Expulsion Matter for Students With Disabilities

Having data on the rates of suspension and expulsion for students with disabilities assists districts in examining how discipline decisions are made. Additional supports can be provided to assist students with disabilities to remain in school and receive appropriate instruction. Discipline practices can be improved with the use of PBS techniques to create school-wide supportive environments. See the MAASE wiki page on Positive Behaivor Support. The State Performance Plan Indicator (SPPI) number 4 addresses the rate of suspension and expulsion.
